GM Assembly

Groundbreaking at GM's Fairfax Plant
GM announced this week it will be investing $600 million in its Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas City, adding a new paint facility. This is great news for fellow Kansans, signaling a commitment by GM to have GM assembly continue in the plant. The investment will see the plant expand by 15% to about 3.7 million square feet. The Fairfax assembly plant produces the Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Malibu and employs over 3500 Kansans to do so. The groundbreaking was held on Tuesday March 12, 2013 and will lead to 800 to 900 construction jobs in the area as well. At Briggs Buick you can get into the Consumer Digest “Best Buy” 2013 Buick Lacrosse and experience luxury and safety with Lacrosse’s five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

New Paint Facility
When you buy Lacrosse, even a used Lacrosse, it supports local jobs at the GM assembly plant, making your purchase even more beneficial to the local economy. The new paint shop also features benefits for the great state of Kansas. When complete the new paint facility will use new technologies that cut energy usage in half for every car painted. The facility also uses a GM-patented Radiant Tub Oven system that uses 20% less natural gas during the baking process. GM will also use Thin Film Technology which cuts water usage and eliminates hazardous chemicals from the waste stream. Paint technology at the GM assembly plant uses Hyper Throw E-COAT, designed to get more paint into cavities which will lead to better resistance to corrosion.
