2016 Buick Cascada Convertible Waterproof Testing
The North American Buick lineup is welcoming a brand new addition come 2016 just in time for top-down driving weather. But what happens when it’s cloudy with a chance of rain…or meatballs? It has been forecasted that a majority of car-shoppers shy away from convertibles because they are known to leak because of faulty seals. Determined to prove just how leak-proof the all-new Buick is, the automaker has released a funny and informative video of the 2016 Buick Cascada convertible waterproof testing.
Insuring that a vehicle is waterproof involves more than standing and spraying the car with a garden hose, launching a couple of water balloons at it, or running it through a carwash. Buick wants to show its viewers and future buyers the quality testing that is performed, even if that means that the testing is costly.
Each and every Buick Cascada convertible that leaves the floor is subjected to high-pressure water testing; sprayed and soaked for 10 minutes, approximately 20 gallons of water from each of the nozzles saturates the Cascada. That’s over 130,000 gallons of water that is used and recycled each day. The purpose of this testing is to prove that the soft top of the Buick Cascada can endure the same amount of water and pressure as a hardtop without any part of the interior getting wet.
Want to see the testing in action, the quick video is posted below, and during the testing, a spokesman that greatly resembles Charlie Day in a plastic yellow raincoat, provides commentary on what is happening during the testing.
